The day started with a 6 am alarm call for breakfast, pack and get ready to meet our bus at 7:30 for our 1.5 hour drive to the start of our trek.
It was our first experience of Moroccan heat and it did not disappoint, it was damn hot! The pace was thankfully slow as we steadily climbed away from the our starting point up into the Atlas Mountains. The first day took us from the Ourika valley to our campsite just above the village Agouts.
At about midday we stopped for a much needed break and a picnic lunch. Each day the picnic lunch consisted of mint tea, rice/pasta, vegetables in a sauce, salad, fish and finished off with fresh fruit. It was always a good spread!
After lunch we set off again towards our final destination and our first wild camp. Wild camp means no facilities the toilet was behind the rock of your liking!
Today we walked 16.7km which took us 5hrs excluding the lunch stop. We climbed a total of 1,932m with our campsite at 2,353m.
